Not much changed from DCI West at the Moonlight Classic on June 21st. All Open Class corps went up in score. Blue Devils C finished 4th with a 38.85, with their “Beatles” show, also winning the caption for most adorable corps! Golden Empire, having an impressive 2nd fielding season in Open Class finished 3rd with a 49.05 with its show “The Color of Crime”. The only placement change is that the Blue Devils B with their show “Prismatic”, jumped the Vanguard Cadets show “On Cloud 9” in what is sure to be another back and forth matchup between the Open Class powerhouses. The Blue Devils B finished 1st in Open Class with a score of 57.15. and the Vanguard Cadets with a score of 56.65. In World Class, Pacific Crest and the Mandarins both went down around a point in score from the previous night. The Mandarins with their show “Resurrection” tied Pacific Crest for GE, but were in 8th below the top 2 Open Class corps in all visual captions. Pacific Crest tied Mandarins in GE, finished 6th in Visual, and were 5th in Music. Blue Knights with their show “Because” finished 4th across the board except for brass where they were 3rd, Phantom Regiment with their show “City of Light” finished 3rd across the board except for 4th in Brass. The Blue Knights scored a 66.85, and Phantom Regiment a 68.3. Santa Clara Vanguard, with their fantastic show “The Power of Invention” stayed within 2 points of last year’s champion, finishing around half a point at most behind in most captions except for Percussion that they won. Blue Devils thought invoking storybook inspired show “Ink” finished 1st place across the board except for percussion which finished 2nd. The Santa Clara Vanguard scored a 73.35, and the Blue Devils a 75.15.
