This past week saw competition heat up across the country. Not only did we see fluctuations in scores from show to show as we normally expect, but we also saw fluctuations in scores of individual corps. Let’s get to the numbers.
To date, the Blue Devils have earned the highest score with a 79.5. This score gave them victory in Ogden, Utah on July 7th. The Blue Devils are undefeated as of right now and hope to continue that streak going into the next week.
The Bluecoats are still on an undefeated streak since winning the tour premiere. On July 8th, they earned a 78.00 in Lexington, South Carolina at the CrownBEAT event. Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Cadets have all been battling to round off the top 6 spots.
Spirit of Atlanta joined in the competition festivities as the brought “Georgia” to life for the first time on the July 8th; they scored a 62.4
Big highlights of the week included Open Class corps Louisiana Stars announcing their 2016 show title “In Suspense.” This looks to be an amazing show and could elevate the Louisiana Stars to greatness in the Open Class.
Boston Crusaders synth player Anna Eberhart became an internet sensation after a short video of her appeared to show her ‘possessed’ while playing a segment of the show. Possessed or not, she was truly getting into the show and enjoying performing.
Big events coming up next week include: Drums on Parade show in Madison, Wisconsin, DCI Jupiter in Jupiter, Florida, the Show of Shows in Metamora, Illinois, and the first regional of the season DCI Minnesota on July 16th.
This season is shaping up to be a great one and we look forward to seeing what the next week holds!
