The corps of the Pacific Northwest entered into competition at the Drums of Fire event. Four Open Class corps and three World Class corps competed.
The Blue Knights took 1st in tonight’s competition, sweeping every caption earning them a score 74.7. They keep getting better and better, and the continue to surprise a lot of people.
The Oregon Crusaders entered into competition presenting, “The Midnight Garden,” a twist on what happens after midnight.
As the clock strikes twelve, a mystical garden comes to life; a life all its own.
Vines, pillars, flowers, rock pathways, bridges, and, of course, a clock tower, all become elements in the life of the garden.
What happens in the garden when No one is looking?
How will it end?
Join us as we take you on a journey that will illuminate the unknown and bring new life to this once dark place; the Midnight Garden.

The Oregon Crusaders have a fun show that the crowd will enjoy. The performance level has been raised with this show. The brass is sounding great, the visual program is difficult but achievable, and the music is a perfect fit. This is probably the best corps that the Oregon Crusaders organization has put out. OC finished in 2nd place with a 60.3 to begin the season.
The Cascades entered competition and presented “Intergalactic.” The Cascades organization has been using the hashtag NEWCascades to promote the corps. Not only do they have a new look that is outstanding, it seems as if they have revamped the corps and are presenting a new corps. The program “Intergalactic” is a step up from previous years in terms of design and difficulty. The repertoire pulls music from the Planets series, Star Trek, and much more. Lots of recognizable music will keep this a fan-friendly show. I expect them to be a dark horse in terms of placements this season. I believe that it’s safe to say that they will place around 17th place. Cascades scored a 59.4 and took 3rd place.
Four Open Class Corps competed alongside the three World Class corps. Columbians, Impulse, Eruption, and Thunder all competed. Columbians took 1st, sweeping every caption in their victory earning a 54.6. Impulse finished in 2nd earning a 43.5. Eruption, taking 3rd, and Thunder, taking 4th, are right on the heels of Impulse by earning a 42.1 and a 41.7. These three corps will be jockeying for position later in the season.
