Do you know why I love this season? Because there is absolutely no consistancy in scores. In previous seasons, there was a corps who would go undefeated and the rankings very really changed all that much. This year, we have corps who will go from first place to fifth place. Or a corps who one night will be in 18th but then the next night they're making finals.
Last night during the Seattle Summer Music Games, we saw some great performances across the board. Starting with Blue Knights, this corps is currently ranked sixth overall but finished first last night and dominated all captions. Their show continues to surprise and impress fans at each and every performance. WIth scoring higher than in years past, this may be a season where Blue Knights will find themselves finsihing with their highest placement yet.
The Oregon Crusaders are still reletively new to World Class but have turned heads the past couple years. This year, although still turning heads, is not scoring as high as previous seasons. Last night is was a dogfight between Oregon Crusaders and Cascades. Oregon Crusaders finished second in General Effect 2, Music Analysis, and Music Percussion.
Cascades, moving on to the field with their new "swag" is definitely turning heads as well. With arguably the best arranged and designed Cascades' show, this program is one to watch. The finished second in General Effect 1 and Visual Anaylsis.
Moving on to Open Class, this year shows off a lot of new faces to the drum corps community. Last night we saw four open class corps perform, all of whom in their second performance of the season.
Columbians, founded in 2013, are making an impression in Open Class. They finished first in all captions last night and are currently ranked fourth overall behind Blue Devils B, Vanguard Cadets, and Legends. Impulse, although finishing in second overall did struggle in some captions. They finished fourth in General Effect 1, and third in Visual Analysis and Music Analysis. They'll have to fight newcomers Eruption as the season progresses.
Eruption, founded in 2014, too has made some impressions with audiences. Currently ranked 13th, their finished only 0.100 points behind Impulse. They were able to take second in General Effect 1, Visual Analysis, and Music Analysis.
Thunder, although placed fourth last night, is not going down without a fight. They were able to place third in Visual Analysis 1.
As the season progresses, I think we're going to see a lot of changes in scores and at this point, I have little to no clue as to who will win or even make finals. I'm very excited to keep stalking these scores and see what the 2015 season has to offer.
