I am going to break down each corps, and then give my final thoughts. Spirit of Atlanta- Sprit was very consistent tonight through all captions. They had a very similar gap between them and Phantom in almost every caption. GE and Music being their best, I can see them growing a lot. Visual needs work, but overall every issue they have can be cleaned. Unfortunately I found their show overall to be a bit low key. After the big impacts, its very one dynamic like for a lot of the show. I hope they can be more dynamic as the season progresses. Phantom Regiment- Brass is phenomenal. Only .1 behind cavies tonight. Additionally, their GE seems to be another strong suite. Similar to spirit, they need to work on visual a little more. Concept and content is very good, just cleaning from here on. Additionally, colorguard I would say is the best part of their visual. Enjoyed the energy, and think they can be a real contender for top 6. Cavaliers- GE has turned around! As opposed to previous articles I wrote, I can honestly say GE is much better now. It was their closest caption to the Bluecoats. Visual is also tight, however music needs work, for all sections. That being said, percussion was on fire, which is no surprise. Still going to take a little bit more to get into the top 5. Bluecoats-GE and Visual was just stunning tonight. Very clean for early July. Brass was also good, but still not quite up to the other captions. Percussion however, is just amazing by itself. Unbelievable nuances in their parts that rival BD and Cadets. Their show really will be a contender for medaling, and maybe even champion. Final Thoughts-There was a considerable gap in between each of these corps. If the gap is to narrow, then they must all think about what captions they are weaker in and work on those. Some corps are staying stagnant in this regard, and that will be a problem as the season grinds into August.
